So You Have Some Questions.....

I am asked all kinds of things when it comes to sessions and I wanted to make sure you have all of the information you need!

FAQ

How do we choose a location for our session?

I have a comprehensive guide to spots in the Winston Salem and Triad areas that are great for all session types. If you have a location in mind, I'd also love to hear about it! Maybe it's your favorite part of town, you're school campus, or even your own home! Choosing a location that is meaningful to you will give your photos even more impact.

What days and times can our session take place?

My availability as a Stay-at-Home Mama is most weekday evenings as well as mornings or evenings on weekends. Most of my clients prefer a Friday or Sunday evening as you don't have to work and can have all the time to get ready. However, if you have young kids, a Saturday or Sunday Morning can be perfection. For my newborn clients, I try to make the weekday daytimes available so we can have the best light filling your home.

For outdoor session, I try to begin about 1.5 to 2 hours before sunset. We can determine sunset time on the day of your session simply by using Google! For indoor sessions, I recommend we shoot in the prime sunlight hours so your home or venue are filled with natural light! Window light is so magical, so let’s pump it up and get as much help as we can.

What if we have bad weather on our session date?

If it looks like rain, we will connect a few days in advance to discuss a game plan. I ask that you let me know your decision of whether to move forward with the original date or reschedule to a new date within 24 hours of the start time of the shoot. Please contact me by email to let me know your decision! I use a 24 hour rule of thumb because weather can certainly be unpredictable until the day before!

I am super nervous in front of the camera/we have never had professional photos made together. Can you help us learn to pose?

I have been photographing weddings, engagements and portraits for years, and I can tell you that every single client has felt this same way at some point! It is completely natural to feel camera shy at first! Trust me, I have been there too! I promise to do everything I can to make you feel your best in front of my camera. I will give you plenty of direction if you want it. We are going to have so much fun together!

Can my fur baby come with us?

Absolutely! Your fur baby needs to be remembered too! I've had some very special doggos involved in sessions and here is what I've found to be most helpful. The best thing is to include them in the beginning of the session for a brief time, then have a trusted friend or family member take them home. You have enough on your mind and it can be so helpful for a friend or family member to hold them or run them around.

Do I need to bring any props?

If you have a pregnancy announcement, please bring all the sonograms and happy things! I love an ultrasound moment as it's a classic way to remember such sweet time.

For graduates, please include your cap, gown, graduate stole and cords, and your masters hood in the bag of things to bring. We may not use them all but it's better to have them than to forget them. And don't fret - we will not be putting that cap on your head, just holding it! No one has ever looked their best with a graduate cap on....

What else should we bring with us to our session?

I recommend you bring one bag with you to carry extra items. If you only have your phones and keys, you are welcome to store them in my camera bag while we are shooting so you don't have to worry about them! At the beginning of your session, I will ask that you empty your pockets so I don't see phones and keys in your photos! If you have pets or kids with you, it can be helpful to have some water, snacks, or a diaper bag for a longer session.
