You're Having a Baby!
I am so glad that you want to remember these first tiny moments with your new addition.
Here are some recommendations for our session so you can be as prepared as possible.
1. Determine The Best Rooms For Your Session
I typically do newborns in the home, however an outdoor newborn session can be so lovely!
If in the home, I ask that you take a day or two to see how the light fills your home throughout the day. I often do a session in a bedroom, nursery, or living room depending on the home. Being a natural light photographer I want to work with the sun as much as possible. I will turn off all overhead lighting to help keep colors natural and true.
2. Coordinate Your Outfits
With the freshness of your new family, I recommend simple and light colors. We will use your home light a studio and I love the tenderness of light pastels.
As a newly postpartum mom, I want you to feel you best and a great maxi dress may be the perfect thing.
3. Let's Use A White Duvet
Personally, I always love a white base for Newborn Sessions. Babies are so soft and I want your photos to be that way as well. I find that a white quilt of duvet cover is the perfect base for baby's photos as well as your full family. If you need one, just let me know and I can bring it. I also love a white swaddle for your little one so that we focus on their features instead of a distracting pattern.
4. Tidy Your Space
Babies come with many accessories! I've been there and so I know how many things are around your room to do the best job you can. The day of our session I ask that you tidy our session spots so that when I arrive we can go ahead and get started.
5. Remember That Babies Will Be Babies!
I build in extra time so we can let them be newborns! If you feed your baby prior to my arrival it may help calm baby. I recommend having a bottle nearby so we can help them settle if needed. Take a breath and relax. We've got this!
