Lucy's Heritage Heirlooms

Annie Lievens Photography

Little Lucy brought so much light into the studio the day of her Heritage Heirloom Portrait Session.

At just 18 months old, she was full of that unmistakable toddler energy — curious, quick on her feet, and radiating personality. But what struck me most was her delicate presence, tucked inside all that joyful motion.

With her soft curls, bright red hair, and sparkly eyes, Lucy was an absolute dream to photograph.

And while she was always on the move (as toddlers tend to be!), she found comfort in holding on to my simple wooden toys — a sweet little detail that helped her feel grounded as she stood for her portraits.

We even made a little game of it: placing a monkey sticker on the floor and watching her very seriously try to cover him up with her feet. It was one of those wonderfully simple moments — play disguised as portraiture, where genuine expression and timeless beauty meet.

The Heritage Heirloom session is designed for just this: capturing the fleeting details of early childhood with patience, gentleness, and intention. In the quiet light of the studio, we preserved Lucy exactly as she is in this moment — curious, expressive, and deeply loved.

Why These Portraits Matter

At this age, everything changes so quickly. One month blends into the next, and suddenly their hands aren't so small. Sessions like Lucy’s are meant to pause time for just a little while — to preserve the sweet swirl of energy and innocence before the next season arrives.

Lucy’s portraits will forever tell the story of who she was at 18 months — the way she stood, the way she played, the sparkle in her eyes. And that is a gift her family will treasure for generations.
