There is something so wonderfully tender about six months old.
The newborn days have quietly slipped away, and suddenly, the tiny baby you brought home is becoming a little person with a personality all their own. The sweetest smiles, the roundest cheeks, the little hands reaching for everything in sight, and those bright eyes that seem to recognize every familiar face.
Six months is a beautiful in-between. No longer quite a newborn, but still so wonderfully little.
And it is one of my very favorite ages to photograph.
Why Six Months Is Such a Beautiful Milestone to Remember
By six months, babies are beginning to show us so much of who they are becoming.
Their expressions are full of wonder, their personalities are blossoming, and they are discovering the world around them in the most delightful ways.
Some are beginning to sit independently, while others still need a little support. Some are full of giggles and wide smiles, while others quietly observe everything happening around them.
And I love every bit of it.
Unlike the sleepy, curled-up portraits of the newborn days, six-month milestone photography allows us to capture a baby's emerging personality while preserving all those darling details that are changing far too quickly.
The softness of their little hands. Their perfectly round cheeks. The way they look up at their mother with complete adoration.

A Timeless Six-Month Milestone Session in the Studio
For this sweet little boy's six-month portraits, we chose a beautifully simple studio setting with a clean white backdrop, allowing every bit of attention to rest on him.
Dressed in traditional Feltman Brothers clothing, he looked every bit the classic little gentleman. His mother brought along a beautiful silver rattle, a sentimental detail that felt perfectly at home among these timeless portraits.
There is something I have always loved about traditional children's clothing and meaningful heirlooms. They carry a sense of nostalgia, connecting the little ones we are raising today with generations of childhood portraits that came before them.
The simplicity of this session was entirely intentional.
No elaborate props, busy backgrounds, or distractions. Just beautiful light, delicate details, and a little boy exactly as he is in this fleeting season.
The result is a collection of crisp, classic portraits that will feel just as lovely hanging on the walls of his childhood home as they will decades from now.
And, of Course, Mama Belongs in the Photographs Too
One of my favorite moments from this milestone session was when his mother stepped in front of the camera.
Wearing a graceful white dress, she joined her little boy for a handful of the sweetest portraits together.
Nothing elaborate. Nothing overly posed.
Just the beautiful connection between a mother and her baby.
I will always encourage mothers to be part of their children's photographs, even when the session is meant to celebrate a milestone in their little one's life.
Because one day, these photographs will mean just as much to your child as they do to you.
They will see the way you held them, the way you looked at them, and just how little they once were in your arms.
Motherhood deserves to be remembered, too.
