Let's Talk About It

Choosing Between

In-Home & Studio

Annie Lievens Photography

First—congratulations on your growing family!

Welcoming a new baby is such a sacred, fleeting moment in life, and I’m honored to help you preserve it through timeless, heartfelt images.

As your session approaches, you’ll get to choose where we photograph your baby’s first portraits: your home or my natural light studio. Both are beautiful, meaningful options, and the choice truly comes down to what feels right for your season.

Let’s walk through both:

A couple stands in a bright nursery with a newborn baby, wearing blue and white while standing on decorative tile flooring.
Light blue vintage dresser with decorative mirror displays baby rompers and basket in a minimalist nursery setting.

YOUR HOME

Your Personalized Space

There’s something incredibly intimate about photographing your baby in the very space where they are most loved and nurtured—your home.

Pros:

• A comfortable, familiar space during a tender time

• We can include meaningful details—like the nursery, heirlooms, or pets

• Your session reflects this exact moment in your family’s story

Things to Consider:

• Natural light can be unpredictable—some homes are naturally darker than others

• You may need to tidy a bit, which can feel like a lot in early postpartum

• We’ll likely keep to a few clean, light-filled areas (nursery, primary bedroom, living room)

If you're sentimental about your space and love the idea of cozy, lived-in storytelling, home is a beautiful choice.

Minimalist white bench with wooden legs sits against blank white wall in bright empty room with light wood flooring.
Two white fluffy pillows on white bedding against a plain white wall creating a minimal, monochromatic bedroom scene.

The Studio

A Guaranteed Place to Welcome You

My natural light studio was designed to feel soft, serene, and welcoming—like a peaceful extension of your home.

Pros:

• Always filled with beautiful, consistent natural light

• Neutral bedding + soft textures that photograph like a dream

• Access to the Portrait Closet for moms + babies

• No prep or cleaning required—just show up and be loved on

Things to Consider:

• It’s not personal to your specific home or nursery

• We won’t capture the baby’s “first space,” but instead focus on connection and simplicity

If you’re craving ease, clean simplicity, and elegant heirloom portraits, the studio might feel like the perfect fit.

Remember: There’s no wrong choice.

Whether we photograph you curled up on your bed at home or in the soft light of the studio, these are your memories—and my goal is to preserve them in a way that feels true to you.

Let’s create something beautiful, together.

With Love,

Annie
